This group is open to women who are newly separated or are within the 1st year after the finalization of their divorce.
Each week will include:
Learning about the different stages of grief in divorce.
Identifying your needs, intentions and desires through art and writing exercises. There will be at least 35 minutes of independent art-making and journaling time during each weeks session.
Time to connect with other women going through a similar journey while receiving support, validation and accountability around the practice of radical self care during this time of intense change and upheaval.
Art Making: No art experience is required to participate in this group! This group does not include any art instruction. The focus is not on making finished or even “good art” but rather on the process, (ie. using art as a tool to express yourself, get clarity on your goals and intentions and relieve stress). There is no wrong way to create art in this group. Each week an art exercise will be presented and you can choose how you want to respond. The goal is to explore themes through marks, color, symbol, image and metaphor as well as in written response if that appeals. Sharing within the group or in breakout groups is optional.
Art Materials: At minimum you will need paper and pencil. Very simple art materials can also be used:(ie.markers, watercolor, crayons, magazines for collage etc.)
NOTE: This group can supplement, but does not replace individual therapeutic support. There may be themes that come up in the group setting that you require more support around. I am not able to diagnose, treat, or offer clinical support within this group. Please seek individual therapeutic support when needed.
QUESTIONNAIRE: Please fill out the questionnaire prior to attending the first group (this helps me to determine best cohorts for breakout rooms where you will be sharing and connecting with other members over the six weeks. It also helps me to cater content to the groups specific struggles and stages and identify needs for women going through divorce for inclusion in future workshops. I am the only one who will see this information) :
